Day 1

Following Home pick-up we travel through the mid north towns of Tarlee and the Clare Valley to Gladstone After a lunch stop in Melrose, we continue to Quorn and Hawker,then through Leigh Creek to Copley, and our first night at the Leigh Creek Hotel.
Accommodation: Copley Caravan Park - (ensuite cabin)

Day 2

We travel to Lyndhurst, and the start of the legendary Strzelecki Track (named by Capt. Charles Sturt), through Mt Hopeless, the Cobbler Desert, Merty Merty, then via the old stock route (or alternatively Moomba), to meet the Cooper floodplain and the township of Innamincka.

Day 3

Today is spent exploring the historic Burke and Wills area, and we visit CampLXV, the "Dig Tree", King's marker and Burke's memorial on the banks of the Mulkonbar Waterhole.
There is opportunity to enjoy a walk along the banks of the Cooper Creek and view the abundant wildlife.
The Elizabeth Symons Nursing Home (Built in 1929) has been restored as an interpretive centre for the area.
An optional sunset boat cruise on the Cooper Creek makes for a wonderful day!

Day 4

After a splendid cooked breakfast, we travel north of the Innamincka township to take the Coongie Track to Coongie Lakes.
The track is entirely within the Cooper Land system and travels through a variety of landscapes including huge treeless claypans, crossing light coloured dunes supporting whitewood and acacias.
The waterbird diversity at Coongie Lakes is high for an arid wetland. It is a significant feeding, resting and breeding site for an enormous number of birds that migrate to the area.
This is a full day excursion.

Day 5

We head south along the old Strzelecki track to Merty Merty Junction.
At this point we head east to Cameron Corner, which is on the border of South Australia and New South Wales. A little further, we come upon Fort Grey in the Sturt National Park, and it is another 109km to Tibooburra.
Accommodation: Granites Motel Tibooburra.

Day 6

After exploring Milparinka- (a ghost town of the mining era), we take a track out to Depot Glen, where Capt Charles Sturt was stranded for 5 months of the year due to extreme temperatures, then travel the Silver City Highway through Packsaddle and Fowlers Gap to Broken Hill, arriving mid afternoon.
There is opportunity for some sightseeing in Broken Hill.
Accommodation: Old Willyama Motor Inn, Broken Hill

Day 7

Leaving Broken Hill, we travel along the Barrier Highway to Adelaide, through Olary, Yunta, Burra and Angle Vale.
