Dear Subscriber,
The last couple of months have been very busy, with trips to Birdsville, The Flinders Ranges, and even an overnight visit to Terowie for a book launch - "Terowie Institute 130 years" by Marina Gray and Philip Wood.
The book was launched by Peter Goers of ABC 891, and despite the rather wet weather a large crowd attended.
Being the AFL Grand Final that Saturday, we were able to watch the game in the front bar of the Terowie Hotel, then moved outside for the opening of the restored C B Nourse Garage - which is now a museum housing many automotive related items.
In the forward to the book, Peter says "I love the grand old Terowie Institute. It's a focus of the town still and ever useful. It's spirit has endured for 130 years because of volunteers and they are the spirit not only of Terowie, but our nation."
The Whyte Yarcowie Players entertained us for an hour and half, then followed......supper!
The Whyte Yarcowie Players feature true vaudeville style production numbers, solo acts, song & dance routines, and comedy sketches. There are 12 members including 3 piece band, and ages range from 14 to 92.
They have been performing over 20 years from Roxby Downs to Kadina to Morgan to Hahndorf. The troupe opened in Pt Pirie with Keith Michell Theatre's Morning Melodies 2006 season.
Director Judy Lewis commenced herprofessional career with Bobby Limb & Winifred Atwell & continued theatre later.

The September trip to The Flinders Ranges left Adelaide in overcast but mainly fine weather, with an overnight stop at Rawnsley Park. Next day was almost 4 seasons - a rain shower in Wilpena Pound, a thunder (and lightning) storm on top of Stokes Hill, and fine conditions through Bunyeroo Valley and Brachina Gorge. In Blinman, the threat of a hail storm had us leave quickly for Arkaroola, but we only experienced strong winds which eventually turned to a dust storm.
We arrived at Arkaroola around 4.30 pm, and could see the dust storm approaching from the west. The light soon changed to an eerie orange, and there were many people out taking photos.
